MudRatz Offshore Team is preparing for a busy summer in 2021..
We are excited to announce that our summer program will be built around our newest boat, SV
Mad Blue. This J/105 is the perfect platform for sailors to take their sailing further from the
shoreline! Sailors who have previously competed at the sportboat/offshore level are
encouraged to participate. A fun schedule of overnight regattas is planned, as well as weekend
clinics intended for sailors looking for an introduction to the big boat sailing world. With great fun
comes a long worklist, and active participation in boat projects and work days will be required.
Sailors have the option to choose between participating in the regatta circuit, just the clinics, or
a combination of both. The intended events and their descriptions can be found below. Sailors
who are interested in participating should be between 14-23 years old.
WEEKEND CLINICS
Join us for a weekend clinic to learn more about the Offshore Sailing experience. We will spend
time reviewing safety protocols and conducting safety drills, sail selection, boat handling, and
navigation. The first clinic of the season will be targeted towards more
experienced sailors who intend to apply to be part of the regatta/training team. The second and
third clinics will be open to sailors of all experience levels. If you are interested in participating
in any of the following clinics, please fill out this google form. Clinic Fee includes a Saturday
evening BBQ and a MudRatz Offshore Sailing Team Shirt.
Session | Date | Target Audience |
Clinic #1 | July 10-11th | Open to all Mudratz sailors over age 14 |
Clinic #2 | July 17-18th | Open to all Mudratz sailors over age 14 |
REGATTA/TRAINING TEAM

Boats, Gear, and Volunteers…
Please make sure sailors are dressed for sailing (drysuits, smocks, gloves, boots, hats) as we sail in ALL weather, rain, wind, snow, and sun. Please bring a snack and re-usable water bottle as well. Each season we see sailors become limited by the clothes they have… dress for success… you would not go onto the ball field without cleats!
Sailors should be ready to sail BY the start of practice each day, we are not paying coaches to get the boat ready, so you should plan to arrive early enough to be ready to sail on time.
Parents and sailors – Please ask how you can help… we are a volunteer team and there is always something that needs to be done each week. Thank you for being part of our team. We really hope to create a good experience for everyone!
MudRatz Mission statement: The mission of the MudRatz is to complement local youth sailing programs by enabling sailors to improve as a team and travel around the world.
