After an outstanding first season, Dreamcatcher is back and ready to take on her next race: The 2019 Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race! This 363 nautical mile ocean race brings serious tactical decisions into play as the yachts race across the Gulf of Maine towards Cape Sable, and then continue up the coast of Nova Scotia to the finish line near Halifax. The Dreamcatcher team will be racing not only for the win, but also a chance at the Olin J. Stephens Trophy for the best combined performance in the 2018 Newport Bermuda Race and the upcoming Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race. Luckily, with a first in Class 5 and 7th in St. David’s Lighthouse Division from the Bermuda Race, we are set up to compete with the best!
We are looking for youth under 30, with the majority of our crew between 14 and 23 years old. Offshore experience is not required to apply, we are a development team! Applicants accepted into the Summer Offshore Campaign must commit to 5 weekend practices beginning April 27-28, a weekend Safety at Sea seminar, and two regattas: the Storm Trysail Block Island Race on May 24-26, and of course, the Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race starting July 7. Crew members will be expected to contribute to fundraising efforts during this period to help get us to Halifax. Valid US Sailing membership, International Offshore Safety at Sea certification, and ISAF World Sailing Classification will be required, but will be coordinated with the team!
