Thank you so much Mudratz- an amazing time was had by all!

Love this!!! So wish we were there to be part of the fun...

Today our team sends best wishes and support to our @sailingworldmag cover boy, @scuttlebuttsailingnews author, and @sailanarchy videographer... Peter Cronin.

Peter is simply the heart and soul of our team, and he has helped shape the culture of our program since day one! He is tireless, confident, and caring way beyond his 19 years.

Most of you probably do not know how the sport of sailing was lucky enough catch Peters attention... but keep this in mind the next time you think rigging your boat or something is a lot of work.

Peter was diagnosed with a degenerative hip disease when he was 9. He was in a lot of pain and the doctor told him he would never be able to do traditional sports like basketball, soccer, and baseball. Peter, being Peter, decided he wouldn’t dwell on what he couldn’t do but instead focus on the things he could do.

A friend suggested he try sailing. That first summer at Ram Island YC, he would leave his crutches at the dock and as soon as he got into his Opti, he was free from pain and having a blast. He had his first surgery that fall and decided that sailing was what he wanted to do. Although he has never been totally pain free, his passion for the sport has carried him through. Last summer was tough on him but you’d never know how much it hurt because he always had a positive attitude and never complained.

This fall he knew that it was time to go through with another surgery. Of course he scheduled it around the @marbleheadtohalifaxor race!

Tomorrow they will be doing a reconstruction of the right side of his pelvis. The first part involves repairing all of the soft tissue damage and reshaping the head of his femur. The second part is cutting his pelvis into three different pieces and then screwing it all back together again to give him a better hip joint. It’s a long surgery (6+ hours) with two different doctors but he is looking forward to being able to get back to doing the things he loves!

Hurry back Peter! It’s not the same around here without you! @ Vail, Colorado
